Night Clubs

They all try to be trendy but not all of them succeed. But as long as you’ve got a sense of humour you’ll have a great time in any of these places. Admission prices fluctuate depending on your sex, the day of the week and any themed event that may be taking place so it's difficult to list all the tariffs. Expect to pay from 15,000br at an average venue during the week to around 50,000br at a top end venue on a Saturday night.

Westworld Club

Minsk’s most popular night club is where western tourists, East European businessmen and partying students all come together. This huge venue, with a separate casino and strip club, tries ever so hard to be cool and sophisticated but fails spectacularly, which is part of the charm. Instead the whole place reeks of booze, fun and nonsense.

Max Show (Макс-шоу)

The most sexually charged venue, aided by the almost constant presence of strippers, usually female, occasionally male. It’s all to be found in the basement of the October cinema near Akedemia Hauk metro station.

Altcatraz

In the venue where Lee Harvey Oswald met his future wife is this nightclub, a favourite amongst the city’s students who can’t afford the more modern and expensive venues. The restaurant is open from midday but the club doesn’t really get going until about 10pm. Laid back anarchy with a prison theme.

One of Minsk’s oldest nightclubs has kept up with the times and regularly modernised to keep it up there with the best of them. Now boasting plasma screens and video projectors amongst the strippers and casino tables.

Madison Club
Timiyarzeva 9 (Тимиярзева 9)

A bit hidden away but worth seeking out. You might find it more convenient to jump in a taxi. Slightly smaller and more intimate than its competitors it’s considered by many to be the place to be seen.

Bronx

Arguably the best venue in town with prices to match. A variety of bars, nice décor, relaxed atmosphere and full of Minsk’s richest and trendiest citizens.

Night Star
Sverdlova 2 (Свердлова 2)

One of the safest bets in Minsk. A modern night club located behind the Red Church on Independence Square. You can pay extra to sit in the mezzanine floor upstairs but you’ll have much more fun at a table near the dance floor.

Goodwin (Гудвин)

Hidden away in a cellar a few doors down from the GUM department store, you could easily miss the entrance. By day a restaurant, by night a club, it's always heaving on a Saturday night.

Dankoff Club (Даньков-Клуб)

The Dankoff club tries to be everything to everybody and generally succeeds. Separate night club, restaurant and strip club and it even has a children’s disco every Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock! Officially the doors never close and the restaurant and club facilities are open 24 hours a day.

Reactor (Реактор)
Very Khoruzhey 29 (Веры Хоружей 29)

This night club attracts a young crowd who love the various themed nights that it offers. When it’s not full of teenagers it is one of the city’s main boxing venues, hosting professional and amateur fights.

Overtime (Овертайм)
Prospect Podetiteley 4 (Проспект Победителей 4) Inside the Palace of Sport.
22:00-06:00 Closed Monday.
I mention this place only because of its location close to the main hotels. It gets mixed reviews on local internet forums with some suggesting that it is over-priced and overrated.

Africa
Timiyarzeva 9 (Тимиярзева 9)
22:00-06:00 daily
Step into Africa to see what happens when you give a designer a theme and a bottomless pit of cash. And probably a few bottles of vodka. It certainly not as fashionable as the Madison Club a few doors down but it’s all good fun in an ironic sort of way.
