Art Exhibitions

Dotted across the city are a surprising number of state run exhibition centres and independently owned galleries. There are token admission fees at many places, except for temporary exhibitions at the major museums where you may be charged a still modeset 7,000br. If you are touring the city on foot then dropping into an exhibition you may pass is rarely a disappointing experience.

Exhibition of All: Art Nu-VO from Novinki
14 November 2010 – 14 February 2011
Republican Theatre of Belarusian Drama, Kropotkina, 44 (Кропоткина 44)
An exhibition of work by in-patients at Novinki, the local psychiatric hospital. Novinki is a name to strike fear into the heart of Minsk residents. It has long had the reputation for being a real hell on earth, although in recent years the reality has changed, thanks in part to the efforts of overseas charities. Such an exhibition would once have been unthinkable, but it’s opening is yet another example of the changing attitude towards the institute.
