What’s on
The ballet is always a draw in Minsk and I really recommend you take a look if you get the chance. In March the ballet and opera both returned to their spiritual home after three years away while the ballet and opera theatre underwent extensive renovations.
There’s always a diverse selection of concerts on, as befits a city of two million people, from local rock bands to touring Jazz musicians from around the world.
Keep an eye out for art exhibitions as you tour the city. They’re often free, if not there’ll be a token admission fee.
The football season runs from April – November and Minsk has three teams in the Premier League. The current Belarusian champions are BATE Borisov who played Real Madrid, Juventus and Zenit St Petersburg in the group stages of the Champions League last year. Borisov is about 60km north east of Minsk and can be easily reached by electric train or bus.
